Medal No. 7 – Jacob's Dream
From Beer Sheva, Jacob fled northwards to Haran, out of fear of his twin brother Esau who wanted to kill him after he had received his father Isaac's blessing. He lay down to sleep and in a dream, saw a ladder reaching from earth to heaven, with angels ascending and descending. G-d spoke to Jacob and reminded him of His promises to Jacob's father and grandfather, Abraham and Isaac; The Land upon which he was lying would be given to him and his descendants, who would spread out in all directions. G-d also promised to guard Jacob and not to leave him. Jacob wakes up and calls the place "Beth El", the House of G-d.
