Medal No. 5 – Destruction of Sodom
In the wake of the sins of the people of Sodom, who behaved with utmost cruelty and lack of justice towards those who did not belong to Sodom, G-d considered destroying the city. Two angels were sent to Abraham to announce the impending destruction. Abraham sought to prevent G-d's destruction by finding sufficient virtuous people within Sodom but he could not find them and destruction of the city became inevitable. The angels instructed Lot and his family to leave immediately and warned them not to look back over the city. As G-d showered sulphur and fire over Sodom, Lot's wife looked back and dramatically turned into a pillar of salt.
The medal depicts the moment of chaos as Sodom is overthrown and Lot's wife turns into a pillar of salt.
