Medal No. 6 - The Sacrifice of Isaac
Abraham and Sarah had waited a long time until they were blessed with a child. G-d wanted to test Abraham's faith in Him and see if he would be willing to go as far as sacrificing his beloved and only son with Sarah.
With his unquestionable faith in G-d, Abraham responded to the request without hesitation. He rose early in the morning, went to the place to which G-d had directed him, bound Isaac on the altar and was on the point of slaughtering his son, when an angel stopped him. The angel indicated a ram caught in a thicket that was to be used for the sacrifice instead of Isaac.
The medal depicts the moment after the drama. Abraham hugs his beloved son Isaac, while he is still on the altar, moved to tears by the circumstances. To the left is the ram.
