The Music and Drama Festival, which aims at broadening the cultural horizons of Israel, has become a permanent feature in the life of the country. The Festival presents to the public the best artistic creations for stage and music. By combining Israeli original contributions with others of international fame, the Israel Festival has become known for its unique character, appealing to the local audience as well as to visitors
Obverse: The Festival symbol and below the Hebrew inscription, "Music and Drama, Second Festival in Israel, Av-Elul 5722". Around the rim, in a semi-circle, the identical inscription in English, with the date "August-September 1962".
Reverse: Four asymetrical squares in relief set in an incuse circle. In the two upper squares, the right one bears the engraved State emblem, and the left has a harp, symbolizing music. The lower right square bears an engraving of a mask, symbolizing drama, and the left has the English inscription, "Presented by the Prime Minister's Office".
Edge: The State emblem in miniature and the words "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English.
