The Third International Bible Contest
State Medal, 5725-1964

The International Bible contests taking place in Israel, create great interest throughout the world, amongst Jews and Gentiles alike. Contestants with biblical knowledge come to Israel from every continent, to join the Israeli contestants. Scores of thousands follow these contests, some in person at the auditorium, others over the communications media.

Obverse: In the center, a Torah crown fashioned from the three letters of the Hebrew 'Tanach" (Torah, Prophets and Writings). On the rim, below, the State emblem. The balance of the rim bears the inscription: 'Third International Bible Contest, Jerusalem 5725", in Hebrew. The French translation bears the date "1964".

Reverse: Below, an ancient Jewish oil lamp with a panel showing the seven branch candelabra. Above, the citation: "How I loved Thy teachings" Psalms 119:97. Above the citation, in a semi-circle, the citation in Greek, according to the Septuagint.

Edge: The State emblem and the words: "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English. The silver medal bears "Silver 935" in Hebrew and "Sterling" in English. The gold have: "G 916.6".
