Ariel – A City of Health and Wellbeing
Official Medal 2009/5769
8th Medal in the "Cities of Israel" Series

Out of the dreams and ideology of the few, Ariel became a reality. The city was established in 1978, in accordance with the decision of the Israeli government, and its first residents were 40 families from among the employees of Israel's Military and Aerospace Industries. Today, the population is young and varied: young couples, students and new immigrants. The Ariel University of Samaria is flourishing as an academic center and the industrial area provides employment for thousands of local residents. With its spectacular, Judean Hills landscape and its clean, fresh air, Ariel is a thriving, strong and stable city – offering healthy living and wellbeing to all its residents. The Ariel Medal will be sent automatically, at a reduced price and postage paid, to all "Cities of Israel" subscribers that have placed a standing order. The silver and bronze medals are encased in transparent plastic, easily inserted into the special collector's album. To date, the medals in this series honor the following cities: Nes Tziona, Beit Shemesh, Kiryat Gat, Ramat Hasharon, Migdal Haemek, Petach Tikva and Sderot.
