THIRD MEDAL IN THE “CITIES IN ISRAEL” SERIES

The history of Qiryat Gat goes back to King David who fought in the Philistine city of Gat. In the War of Independence the area was liberated from the Egyptians by the IDF. Founded in 1956, Qiryat Gat is an urban-industrial center in the Lahish Region, linking the center of the country and the south. Over the years, immigrants from more than 40 countries have settled there. Located on major transport routes, Qiryat Gat is the site of modern industrial plants, including hi-tech.

Obverse: On the medal face appears a harp, the symbol of King David and the words, “ In the city in which David fought we have built a home and garden”. A computer chip represents hi-tech industry.

Reverse: On the common reverse of all the medals in the series appear an Israeli urban landscape, the emblem of the State of Israel, and the emblem of the Union of Local Authorities in Israel.
