Iris - 15mm, 1.5g Silver/999 Medal
The iris blooms in all parts of Israel, from the Negev to the Galilee. The name Iris in Greek means “rainbow” – suggesting the many colors of irises. The Iris was chosen as the symbol of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI). Nearly every area in Israel has its own typical iris variety: the expanses of Yeruham Iris draw thousands of visitors to the Negev each year, as does the deep purple Gilboa Iris in the north. The medal was issued in honor of the springtime, wildflowers, and the 40th anniverasry of the SPNI.
