RAMAT HASHARON
Official Medal 2008/5768
Fourth Medal in the “Cities in Israel” Series.
At the beginning of the 20th Century, an idealistic group of new immigrants left Jaffa to build a new life. Enduring nature’s hardships and threats from Arab neighbors, they tilled the soil and built the “City of Peace” which later became “Ramat Hasharon”. After the State of Israel was established, the small village helped build the nation, by accommodating part of the large Jewish immigration from the Arab countries in tents. These immigrants in their turn contributed to the growth and prosperity of the village, which today is the city of Ramat Hasharon with its green surroundings and high standards of living.
