Rafael Prize
Official Award Medal, 5735-1975

"Rafael" was established in 1948 as Israel's Defense Ministry research and development laboratory. The Authority became the central research and development instrument of the Israeli defence establishment, developing sophisticated weapons by long range planning and finding solutions to problems concerning day to day defence operations.

Obverse: A raised triangle. On the tip, inside a rectangle, a form of a missile. On the right, below, the inscription: "Raphael Prize".

Reverse: On the right a raised triangle, upon which appears the inscription: "For they are men of wonders" - Zacharia 30:8. Below the seven branched candelabra.

Edge: The State emblem and the inscription "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English.
