Rafael - Israel's Defense Ministry Research
Official Award Medal, 5733-1973

"Rafael" was established in 1948 as Israel's Defense Ministry research and development laboratory. The Authority became the central research and development instrument of the Israeli defence establishment, developing sophisticated weapons by long range planning and finding solutions to problems concerning day to day defence operations.

Obverse: In the centre, the figure "25" relating to the "Years of service at Rafael". On the right, within a square, a schematic model of a missile.

Reverse: Above, seven branched candelabra.

Edge: The State emblem and the inscription "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English.
