Second International Harp Competition
Official Award medal, 5722-1962

The first International Harp Competition took place in Jerusalem in 1959. A special State medal was issued to mark the occasion and was distributed to the participants. The competition, which takes place once in three years, was held for the second time in 1962, and it again attracted famous harpists from all over the world.

Obverse: A stylized harp. On the right the State emblem and beneath an inscription in French, "Second International Harp Competition, Jerusalem, September 1962, presented by the Israel Harp Festival Committee". Beneath the French inscription, a raised blank space intended for dedications.

Reverse: Within a symmetrical incuse, a royal figure holding a harp. Around the rim an inscription, "The Second International Harp Competition, Jerusalem, Elul, 5722".

Edge: On the edge the State emblem and the words, "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English.
