Grapevine - 7 Ancient "Seven Species" Coin Replicas
In 2006, Israel Government Coins and Medals Corp., together with the Israel Antiquities Authority, issued a stunning series of seven ancient Jewish coin replicas. Most of the original coins were struck in the Land of Israel and some of them are very rare.
The common theme depicted on the coins is the "Seven Species" of plants characteristic of the Land of Israel, which had special significance in the culture and lifestyle of the people.
The same hand-striking techniques used in ancient times to strike the original coins were applied with outstanding precision in production of the replicas, which were approved by the Israel Antiquities Authority.
