Zim - Twenty-Fifth Anniversary
Official Award Medal, 5730-1970
Twelve shipping lines operate from Israel. "ZIM" the largest shipping company controls seventy percent of the vessels and employees. Old methods of loading and unloading have given way to container ships with open hatches through which entire trucks may enter. This speedy procedure has enabled long distance shipping with faster turns-around.
Obverse:
In the centre - a stylized figure of a ship's deck. From the funnel with the word "Zim", a plume of smoke spelling the words: "25th Anniversary". To the left of the word "Zim" seven stars of David (Zim emblem). Over the width of the deck, an inscription: "Israel Navigation Company". On the rim, above, the dates "5705-5730, 1945-1970".
Reverse:
To the left of the centre, a small vessel, an early Zim ship. To the right side, a large, modern one. Below, the waves spell out the verse: "And ships will come from Kittim". On the rim, above, in English "Zim Israel Navigation Co.".
