Jerusalem Rotary Jubilee

Official Award Medal, 5739-1979


The Jerusalem Rotary Club, the first Rotary Club in Palestine, was founded in 1929, sponsored by the Cairo Rotary. The Jerusalem Club celebrated its jubilee during the same month that the Peace Treaty between Egypt and Israel was signed.

Obverse
A stylized figure "50" is formed by the Rotary wheel together with an olive branch, the symbol of peace. Below, an inscription: "Jerusalem Rotary Jubilee" in Hebrew and English.

Reverse
Jerusalem sights - sacred to the three monotheistic faiths. On the rim, the word "Jerusalem" in Hebrew, Arabic and English.

Edge
The emblem of the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation, and its initials, in Hebrew and English. The silver medals bear "Silver 935" in Hebrew and "Sterling" in English.

Serialization
All medals are numbered.
