Benei-Beraq Jubilee
Official Award Medal, 5734-1974
Following the destruction of the Second Temple, Benei-Beraq became a centre for learning. In Biblical times it was part of the land allotted to the tribe of Dan (Joshua 19:45).
The contemporary Benei-Beraq was founded in 1924 by Hassidim from Warsaw. It attained fame because of its Ponivizer Yeshiva and the Yeshiva of the "Chazon Ish". Today there are many factories in Benei-Beraq. It received municipal status in 1949.
Obverse
Inside a panel, in the form of the "Two Tablets of the Law" a stylized panorama of Benei-Beraq. Below, an inscription: "They were gathered in Benei-Beraq" - a citation from the Passover Hagadah.
Reverse
Inside a panel, in the form of the Two Tablets of the Law, the Benei-Beraq Municipal emblem. The dates: "5684-5734". An inscription: "Fiftieth Jubilee' Below, the dates: "1924-1974". An English inscription "Benei Beraq 50 years".
Edge
The State emblem and the inscription "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English. The silver medals bear "Silver 935" in Hebrew and "Silver" in English.
