100th Anniversary of Metulla
Official Award Medal, 1995 5755
Metulla is a small settlement with a big history, at the tip of Upper Galilee. It was founded in 1896 and determined Israel's northern frontier. The settlement preserves its pastoral atmosphere and combines old and new, restoring and preserving the traces of the early settlement of Israel. The inhabitants earn a living from agriculture, tourism and services. The town has a wide range of modern services, including cultural, educational and sports facilities, a shopping center and medical and social services. The local council plans to develop the tourism, recreational and service sectors while preserving the traditional character of Metulla. The town is truly a fulfillment of the dreams of its founders.
