American Buffalo
In 2006, the US Mint announced its intention to produce gold bullion coins with maximum gold fineness (24k), as a complement to the "American Eagle" (22k). The coin was named the "American Buffalo", although some of the dealers call it the "Indian Head".
On the obverse is the image of a Native American, alongside the inscription "Liberty". This image appeared on the 5-cent coin of 1913. The reverse shows an American bison surrounded by inscriptions "In God We Trust" and "E Pluribus Unum".
