10 Pounds Anglo Palestine Bank - Rectangle Silver Medal

In honor of Israel's 50th Anniversary, with authorization from the Bank of Israel, Israel Government Coins and Medals Corp. issued a set of Sterling Silver Replicas of the Anglo-Palestine Banknotes, the first banknotes that were issued in Israel after the establishment of the State in 1948.
The original Anglo-Palestine banknotes were printed by a private company in New York. Their design consisted of banknote guilloches available at the company, some of which had been used for Chinese banknotes. Since the newly established State, as yet, had neither an official name nor an official currency, the currency of the Mandate, "Palestine Pound" was printed on them - "Land of Israel Lira" in Hebrew.
The notes were put into circulation on August 18, 1948 and ceased to be legal tender on June 23, 1952.

Five notes were issued in the Anglo-Palestine Series:
500 Mils (equivalent of Half a Palestine Pound – there were 1,000 Mils in a Palestine Pound)
1 Palestine Pound
5 Palestine Pounds
10 Palestine Pounds
50 Palestine Pounds
