Responding to the growing international interest in Banknotes, the IGCMC proudly presents a Commemorative Issue of the first Israeli Currency Notes, entitled "First Series, issued in 1955, by the then, newly-formed, Bank of Israel.
In anticipation of Israel's 50th Anniversary, this facsimile edition, or set of Souvenir Cards" consists of replicas of one side of the five Currency Notes in "First Series" issued by the Bank. The original Notes have now become rarities.
Adding to their desirability, the "Souvenir Cards" Sets are serially numbered and each of the five Cards in one set bear the same number. Originally commissioned by the Bank of Israel, from Thomas de la Rue and Co. of London, these Notes featured aspects of Israel's aspirations to the growth of its undeveloped landscape, while recognizing its historical and natural heritage.
