Herod Agrippa the First
Herod Agrippa, the grandson of Herod | grew up in the courtly circles in Rome. When he came to the throne in Judaea he applied the lessons in political expediency learnt in Rome, striking coins for his gentile subjects with portraits and a single coin for his Jewish subjects depicting three sheaves of barley and a royal canopy. The canopy was a symbol of royal rank. The Bible relates that King Solomon built himself a canopy.
*Exposing the coins to water (showering, bathing in the sea, pool, high body acidity) will cause tarnishing and loss of their natural patina. Details on the coins are also liable to be rubbed away by water and a damaged coin cannot be restored or repaired.
