SERIES OF 8 ART MEDALS
Set of 8 mosaic gold medals, in an elegant box

Israel Coins and Medals Corporation has chosen to commemorate eight selected ancient mosaics, representing Jewish, Christian and Islamic Art, with a variety of themes and styles, on colorful Art Medals, struck in gold and silver. Since medallic art is a form of miniature art and it would not be possible to reproduce a complete mosaic on a small 39mm diameter medal, the most interesting parts of the mosaics have been chosen as the main motifs for the medals. The 8 medals in the series have a common reverse bearing the inscription "Ancient Mosaics of the Holy Land", the Holy Land Mint logo, by which ICMC is recognized internationally, the precious metal fineness and weight. The Israel Antiquities Authority graciously advised ICMC regarding the choice of mosaics and supplied the photographs. The medals have been designed by the artist Meir Eshel.
