Set of 14 Medals
This series of medals commemorates the airplanes of the Israeli Air Force. Each one made its mark on the history of the country and is associated with its specific period of operation. The planes have been reproduced in precise detail on the medals, designed by Eliezer Weishoff, in consultation with the Public Committee headed by the former Commander of the Air Force, Major General Eitan Ben Eliahu.
- The first medal in the series is dedicated to the Auster.
- The 2nd medal in the series is dedicated to the F-15 Eagle 2.
- The 3rd medal in the series is dedicated to The Apache helicopters (known as the “Cobra” in Israel)
- The 4th medal in the series is dedicated to “Hercules” or “Rhinoceros” as it is called in the Israel Air Force is the Israeli Lockheed C-130.
- The 5th medal in the series is dedicated to the cargo plane “Douglas Dakota”.
- The 6th medal in the series is dedicated to the Gloster Meteor.
- The 7th medal in the series is dedicated to the Sikorsky CH-53 Helicopter, nicknamed “Yasur”.
- The 8th medal in the series is dedicated to the Mustang Airplane
- The 9th medal in the series is dedicated to the Fouga-Magister Airplane
- The 10th medal in the series is dedicated to the Mirage Airplane
- The 11th medal in the series is dedicated to the General Dymnamics F-16.
- The 12th medal in the series is dedicated to Israel’s first fighter plane, AVIA S-199, nicknamed “the knife”.
- The 13th medal in the series is dedicated to the McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II
- The last medal in the series is dedicated to the Israel Aircraft Industry and the Offeq Satellite.
Common Reverse: A stylized design of a bird in flight with the hills of Jerusalem above it and the Israeli Air Force emblem below it; the verse “HIS WINGS SHALL FILL THE BREADTH OF THY LAND” (Isaiah 8) is inscribed in Hebrew along the upper border of the medal and in English along the lower border. The silver/925 proof medal is with gold-plated sterling silver insert and the bronze proof medal is with sterling silver insert.
Edge: State emblem with the words "STATE OF ISRAEL" inscribed in Hebrew on the right and in English on the left; the serial number and metal.
