Official Award Medal, 1992 5752

The National and University Library was founded in 1892 on the 400th anniversary of the exile of the Jews from Spain. The library serves as the national library of the Jewish people and of the State of Israel, and as the main library of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The medal was issued exclusively for the National Library in the framework of its 100th anniversary celebrations, which included a special historical exhibition, a stamp series, and various activities with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Obverse: Shelves full of books; the inscription "100 YEARS»THE JEWISH NATIONAL & UNIVERSITY LIBRARY IN JERUSALEM" appears in English along the circumference and in Hebrew on the left side of the medal, with the years "1892-1992 5652-5752".

Reverse: Sketch of the National Library in Jerusalem. Above along the circumference, in Hebrew, a passage from Daniel 1:17 with reference.

Edge: Initials "I.G.C.M.C." in Hebrew and English, and serial number.

Serialization: All medals are numbered.
