The Tribe of Dan medal is the fifth in the series of twelve drawings by Salvador Dali in honor of the 25th anniversary of the State of Israel. Dali drew the inspiration for depicting Dan as a snake from Jacob's blessing: "Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path that biteth the horse heels so that his rider shall fall backward" (Genesis 49:17).

Description

Obverse: Tribe of "Dan" - colored silk-screen depicting an immense snake rising from the road; above it, a horse, fleeing. Above, the inscription "DAN" in Hebrew and English. Below, artist's signature.
Reverse
Dali's work, a seven-branch menorah and circle of figures dancing the hora. In the lower portion, along the circumference, the artist's signature.

Edge: State emblem with the words "STATE OF ISRAEL' in Hebrew on the right and in English on the left and serial number. Bronze/tombac medal - "BRONZE" in Hebrew and English; Silver medal - "S 999" in Hebrew and English; gold medal - "G.750" in Hebrew and English.

Serialization: All medals are numbered.
