The connection between the people of Israel and the Land of Israel is unparalleled. Throughout the two-thousand year exile, the Jewish people dreamed and prayed for their return to the land of their inheritance, land of their forefathers, the "Promised Land".

During the long exile, the Jewish Sages expressed the people's deep love and yearning for the Jewish homeland. The words of Rabbi Judah Halevi, the famous poet and philosopher, "My heart is in the east and I am at the end of the west" echoed in the hearts of the Jewish people around the world. "Wherever I go, I am on my way to Israel" were the words of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.

On Iyar 5, 5708, May 14, 1948, the State of Israel was proclaimed, but as of today, we are still coping with enemies and challenges, and we are still fighting for our existence and our right to live in peace and tranquility in our Land. In spite of this, Israel continues to prosper and serve as a beacon of light to humanity in almost every domain, particularly in science, medicine, economics, technology and innovations. In addition, Israel continues to absorb hundreds of thousands of Jewish immigrants from all over the world and is the center of spirituality for the Jewish people.

This last year has proved to be one of the hardest that Israel and the Jewish people have experienced. We have been facing exceptionally great challenges and fighting a war against our enemies. The Independence Day Coin 2024/5784, "Israel Stands Together", which marks the 76th anniversary of the State of Israel, denotes the strength, force and unity of our people. When we join in times of crisis, we stand together firmly in face of our enemies, fully understanding that we have no other Land and only together will we win.

Coin Description

Obverse: The Israel State Emblem, "Israel" in English, Hebrew and Arabic, "Independence Day 2024" in English and Hebrew, face value and mint mark. In the lower border, an artistic element represents joined hands.

Reverse: In the lower area, houses and trees represent the houses in southern Israel. A tractor plowing fields symbolizes the significant agriculture in the area. Across the center, two hands reach out to each other, one from either side of the coin. The inscription "Israel Stands Together" appears in the upper border and the words in Hebrew appear boldly in the center above the hands. The coin design is created on layers, with the number "76" appearing on the lowest layer.
