NESS ZIONA
OFFICIAL MEDAL 2007/5768
FIRST MEDAL IN THE SERIES OF MEDALS HONORING “CITIES IN ISRAEL”
Ness Ziona is the first in a new series of medals honoring the Cities of Israel, which will undoubtedly become one of our signature products. Each medal in this series will give artistic expression to the unique essence of each city. This special initiative is in cooperation with the Union of Local Authorities in Israel and the medals will be struck in the order in which the cities joined the project. Representatives of each city are involved in the design its medal.
The medals will be struck in Gold, 30.5mm, and in Silver and Bronze in classic “Crown size” diameter, desired by collectors the world-over. The Silver and Bronze medals will be presented in a transparent pack, accompanied by a numbered information insert about the city. The Corporation is planning to produce an album to house the entire series including special place for the inserts. We expect that, like the American “State Quarters” series, this series will stimulate excitement and interest among a new generation of collectors and will be an excellent tool for teaching the history of Israel.
Ness Ziona was chosen to lead the series as this was the first city in which a blue and white flag, the model for the Israeli flag, was flown. Ness Ziona’s history encompasses early agricultural projects as well as the struggle for Jewish survival in Eretz Israel. On the medal face, the likeness of Michael Halperin, the legendary youth who first flew the blue and white flag, the emblem of the city, and the verse from the Book of Jeremiah: “Lift a flag to Zion…". On the common reverse of all the medals in the series, an Israeli urban landscape, the emblem of the State of Israel, and the emblem of the Union of Local Authorities in Israel.
The Ness Ziona medal is offered here as a single medal. It is also possible to order the entire series through a “Standing Order”, thus entitling you to receive a substantial reduction in the price of each medal and free shipping of future medals. (The price will not rise as long as metal prices do not rise above current levels.) Contact our office if you wish to place a Standing Order for the series of medals.
