This medal honors with love and gratitude the soldiers of the IDF who protect the State of Israel and her citizens with bravery and dedication. LIBI is a charitable fund that assists members of the Israel Defense Forces through projects that improve their quality of life and enhance their well-being. 2005 marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the LIBI Fund by the late Menachem Begin, who was then Prime Minister, and the late Raphael Eitan, the then current IDF Commander-in-Chief. The Fund helps soldiers through educational assistance, improving medical resources and facilities, and special assistance to new immigrants. Among the projects funded by LIBI have been the following: DIPLOMAS FOR SOLDIERS enables soldiers to complete high school diplomas while still serving in the IDF;. donations of AMBULANCES; construction of a REHABILITATION CENTER for soldiers; and a special fund to help needy soldiers purchase food, clothing and other basic items. A portion of the income generated by the sale of these medals will be donated to the LIBI Fund.
