A.I.N.A. Tenth Anniversary
Medal, 5737-1977

The American Israel Numismatic Association (A.I.N.A.) was established in 1967. Its aim was to promote knowledge about coins and medals and numismatic details relating to ancient and modern Israel. A.I.N.A. has clubs in the larger cities in the United States and Canada and thousands of enrolled members throughout the world. A special coin was issued to mark the 10th anniversary of A.I.N.A.

Obverse: Below and around the left rim, an ancient oil lamp. Its light symbolizes scholarship. In the center, an inscription in English: "10th Anniversary 1967-1977". On the rim to the right, an English inscription: "American-Israel Numismatic Association".

Reverse: The A.I.N.A. seal surrounded by rushing waves, symbolizing feverish activity.

Edge: The word "Israel" in Hebrew and English. The silver medals bear "Silver 935" in Hebrew and "Silver" in English. The gold are marked "G 916.6".

Serialization: All the medals have been numbered

Designer: Nathan Karp (according to an A.I.N.A. sketch). AINA's emblem was prepared and designed by Nathan Sobel, editor of the Shekel 1968.

Engraving: Moshe Nov.

Mint: Hecht.

The medal was issued exclusively for A.I.N.A., U.S.A.
