The 15th of Shevat is the New Year of the Trees. At this time of year, many of the fruit trees in Israel blossom and bud. During this day it is the custom to eat fruits. Some hold a special Seder with festive meal, candles, flowers and choice fruits ft the land. On Tu B'Shevat thousands of people, schoolchildren in particular, go out into nature to plant trees. This medal, abloom with beauty, symbolizes the joyous holiday. It is the eighth medal in the “Jewish Holiday” series.

Obverse: Tree blossoming with sun rays in the background. Below, along the circumference.“TU B'SHVAT” in Heberw and English.

Reverse: Flowering tree. Below along the circumference, the passage “And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees…” and the source “Leviticus 20” in Hebrew.

Edge: State emblem with the words “STATE OF ISRAEL” in Hebrew on the right and in English on the left and serial number. Bronze/tombac medal – “BRONZE” in Hebrew and English ; Silver medal - “SILVER 935” in Hebrew and Endligh ; gold medal – milled.

Serialization: Bronze/tombac and silver medals are numbered.
