Israel Numismatic Convention
lIn March 1994, Israel Coin Week was held at the Eretz-Israel Museum in Tel Aviv. Interesting private and public collections were displayed and many numismatic activities took place: buying and selling by dealers, lectures and films, access to computerized information about coins and medals, coin minting utilizing methods from the Hasmonean period, special activities for children’ and a competition for the most outstanding collector’s item. The response of the general public, and particularly, IGCMC subscribers, was outstanding. The warm reaction proved that numismatics.
Description of the Medal
Obverse: Hebrew seal inscribed “ruler of the city”, dated to the mid-7th century B.C.E., Which apparently refers to the ruler of the city of Jerusalem. Along the circumference, “INTERNATIONAL NUMISMATIC CONVENTION 1994” in Hebrew above and in English below.
Reverse: Five of the coins and medals of the Corporation, and the IGCMC symbol. Along the circumference, “ISRAEL GOVERNMENT COINS AND MEDALS CORPORATION”, in Hebrew above and in English below.
