Klunzinger's Wrasse (Thalassoma rueppellii)
Sixth Coin in the "Red Sea Marine Life" Series
The Klunzinger's Wrasse is endemic to the Red Sea Coral Reefs. It is carnivorous, feeding on crustaceans and invertebrates that live on the corals and rocks. It is active during the day and, at night burrows itself in the sand and hides in the crannies of the rocks and corals. The fishes are born female, green in color. Later in life, they become male and develop impressive coloring – blue-green bodies with red and pink stripes.
