Ever since 1 930, when the Magen David Adom was founded, it has given first aid service, ambulance services and blood bank services. It also serves as an auxiliary to the I.D.F. health services, in peace and in war. The Magen David Adom functions by way of 8,000 adult and 2,000 youth volunteers. The permanent staff numbers 500, spread from Kiryat Shmona in the north to Eilat in the south. The Magen David Adom owns a fleet of more than 700 ambulances, 24 mobile blood banks and 20 special ambulances equipped to give first aid to heart patients.

Obverse
On the left, a stylized relief of a Star of David upon a background of shades of other shields. On the rim, to the right, the inscription in Hebrew: "Magen David Adorn in Israel 50th Jubilee 5690-5740". The English translation marks the dates as "1930-1980".

Reverse
Covering the surface the inscription in Hebrew: "Whoever saves one life has saved an entire world". Within the inscription are depicted a stylized globe, a heart, a drop of blood. On the rim, below, the english translation.

Edge
The emblem of the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation, and its initials in Hebrew and English.

Serialization
The medals are numbered.
