Remembrance Day for I.D.F. Fallen
Official Award Medal, 5733-1973

On the twenty-fifth Independence Day a special medal was issued to commemorate the I.D.F. fallen.

Obverse
On the right, the twenty-fifth Independence Day emblem imposed upon the I.D.F. emblem. A ribbon bears the inscription "Israel Defense Forces". On the top left, an inscription "In memory of our dear ones". Below, a raised inscription "With Compliments". Again in raised letters, the Chief of Staff's signature "David Elazar" and in raised print "David Elazar, Lt. General Chief of the General Staff". (The medal was awarded to the relatives of the fallen. On the medals intended for others, the words "in appreciation" appear in Hebrew or English instead of "In memory of our dear ones" and the Chief of Staff's signature is also in English.)

Reverse
A stylized panorama of Jerusalem United, the same as on the "Knesset 1971" medal and the word "Jerusalem" in Hebrew. On medals bearing the English dedication, the word "Jerusalem" appears in Hebrew and English.

Edge
The State emblem and the inscription "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English.

Designer
Obverse - Rothschild and Lippman ("Roli"). Reverse - Ya'akov Zim.

Engraving:
Kretschmer.

Mint
