100th Anniversary of the National Council of Jewish Women
Official Award Medal, 5753-1993

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) was established in 1893. It is the oldest national Jewish women's volunteer organization in America. It has 100,000 members in 500 communities throughout the United States. The organization provides assistance in the fields of education, legal aid and community services without regard for religion or race, in the United States and Israel, with special emphasis on women and children. Involvement of American Jewish women in Israel began in 1947, with scholarships to students at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since then, NCJW has provided support for educational .child welfare and other programs in Israel.

Obverse: A Torah scroll with eternal light hanging below it. To the left, the initials "NCJW" in stylized, superimposed letters. To the right, "1893". Along the circumference above, the words "FAITH AND HUMANITY".

Reverse: The logo "NCJW", below, "2nd Century Celebration 1893-1993". Along the circumference, above, "National Council of Jewish Women", below, "Daring to Make a Difference".

Edge: State emblem with the words "STATE OF ISRAEL', in Hebrew to the right and in English to the left, with "BRONZE" in Hebrew and English and serial number.
