The International Press Institute held its tenth convention in Tel Aviv in May, 1961. The Institute strives for a free press throughout the world and it fights for the freedom of information and the right of journalists to obtain information, and seeks to maintain respect for the press.

Obverse
In the center, above, the State emblem. Beneath, an inscription in French, "Presented by the Government of Israel".

Reverse
To the right of center, the emblem of the International Press Institute - an orb on top of which the letters "I.P.I" appear. Across the entire width an inscription in English, "International Press Institute". Above, to the left, an English inscription in three lines, "Tenth General Assembly". Beneath to the left, in English "Tel Aviv, May 1961" and in Hebrew 'Tel Aviv, lyar 5721".
