WE LOVE OUR LAND
OFFICIAL MEDAL 2006/5766
COMMEMORATING THE 58TH INDEPENDENCE DAY OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL

Three years ago the IGCMC issued the “Yes, to Israel” medal to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Israeli independence. This year in celebration of the 58th Independence Day we are issuing this joyous medal which proclaims “We Love our Land”. In Hebrew Numerology the number 58 means Chen, Beauty or Grace. The Talmud teaches us to Love our Land – to laude the Beauty and Grace of the Homeland of the Jewish people. On the face of the medal, figures are dancing and waving Israeli flags, as is traditional on Independence Day; beneath them the words “Applause for Israel” in Hebrew. On the back, a heart-shaped cactus plant whose fruit symbolizes the native-born Israeli who shares its name, Sabra. The Sabra fruit is prickly on the outside, sweet on the inside. The words WE LOVE OUR LAND complete the celebration.

Obverse: Figures are dancing and waving Israeli flags, as is traditional on Independence Day; beneath them the words “Applause for Israel” in Hebrew.

Reverse: A heart-shaped cactus plant whose fruit symbolizes the native-born Israeli who shares its name, Sabra.
