Medal No. 10 – Parting of the Red Sea

The Parting of the Red Sea was the greatest miracle of all times, the seminal point in the Exodus from Egypt. When the Children of Israel left Egypt, from slavery to freedom and came near to the Red Sea, they could see the Egyptians chasing after them. Moses stretched out his arm and rod over the sea and the sea parted into two, creating a dry path in the center and enabling the Israelites to cross on dry land. The Egyptians chased after them but when they reached the sea, the waves closed in on them. The Egyptians drowned, while the Israelites were redeemed.

The medal pictures the waves of the Red Sea standing as walls to the left and right of the Israelites, while they crossed over on dry land. In the center, stylized Hebrew letters form a pillar of fire, symbolizing the pillar of cloud in which G-d led the people by day and the pillar of fire, by which He led them by night.
