The World Cup Soccer Tournament, held every four years, attracts a huge audience of enthusiastic fans in anticipation of the games. Soccer lovers in Israel, like millions of others around the world, anxiously follow the games. In 2006, the competition was comprised of 203 countries from five continents that competed for the honor of participating in the games and was won by Italy. No other single, competitive sport can compete with the vastness of the World Cup. Israel joined numerous countries worldwide in honoring FIFA 2006 by issuing its own commemorative coin.
