University of the Negev
Official Award Medal, 5733-1973
The University of the Negev named after David Ben Gurion was founded in Beersheba in 1965. The University strives to inculcate, in addition to the academic disciplines, a conscious awareness of public responsibility and the need to bridge existing social gaps.
Obverse: In the center, inside an incuse circle, a likeness of Ben Gurion and the dates "5646-5734 1886-1973". On the rim, below upon a raised fraction, an inscription "David Ben Gurion" in Hebrew and English.
Reverse: In the center - the initials standing for Ben Gurion University of the Negev designed in the form of a flame -constituting the University emblem. The inscription "Ben Gurion University of the Negev" on a raised fraction of the rim - the above in English.
Edge: The State emblem and the inscription "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English. The silver medals bear "Silver 935" in Hebrew and "Silver" in English.
Serialization: All medals are numbered.
