"And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan...and see the land, what it is...whether it be good or bad" (Numbers 13:17.19). "And they came unto the brook of Eshkol and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it between two upon a staff" (Numbers 13:23). "...And they returned after 40 days..." (Numbers 13:25). This is the first time that tourists to Israel are mentioned in the Bible. 3,000 years later, Israel ranks high among the world's major tourist destinations.
