In the Jewish tradition, a girl celebrates her Bat Mitzvah at the age of twelve. The Bat Mitzvah Medal features a stylized female face and Shabbat candles, representing one of the special Mitzvot of a Jewish woman. The border is made up by a quote from the Book of Isaiah 6:1 in both English and Hebrew, “Arise, shine! For thy light has come.”
