1.Yosl Bergner – Klezmer and Angels
Yosl Bergner, one of the most important Israeli artists, winner of the Israel Prize and the Dizengoff Prize, is a representative of Israeli Surrealism. “Klezmer and Angels” was created especially for the Israel Government Coins & Medals Corp. A section of the painting has been integrated into the medal which was designed by Meir Eshel, in coordination with the artist.
2.Marc Chagall Le Violoniste Bleu Oval Art Medal
The second medal in this beautiful series with color lithographs by famous artists is devoted to the greatest Jewish artist of the 20th Century, Marc Chagall. Much of Chagall’s art brings Jewish music alive. One can almost hear the sweetness and longing of the violin in Le Violoniste Bleu on the face of this medal. On the reverse, in relief, appears King David, the first and greatest Jewish musician, playing his harp. This is a section of a monumental Wall Carpet created by Chagall in 1964 for the Knesset Building in Jerusalem. This exceptional medal is produced with authorization from the Chagall Estate, ADAGP PARIS 2006, engraved on the edge. The first medal in this series was Klezmer and Angels by Yosl Bergner. The Maximum Mintage of the Gold version of this medal was reduced to 75 only.
3.Manet – Le Fifre And Le Guitarrero
The third medal in this beautiful series of colorful art medals features two works by Edouard Manet: a color lithograph of Le Fifre (The Fifer) and Le Guitarrero (The Guitar Player) in relief. Prominent French painter Edouard Manet (1832 – 1883) made the transition from Realism to Impressionism. He chose contemporary subjects such as leisure activities and musicians, and was as concerned about the placement of colors on the canvas as he was about realistic representation. Le Fifre joins the violin players of Yosl Bergner and Marc Chagall which were on the previous medals in this series. The “symphony” created by these beautiful works of art is rising to a crescendo!
4.Renoir - Jeune Filles Au Piano - Girls At The Piano,oval Art Medal
The final medal in this beautiful series is devoted to the piano and features a work by one of the leaders of the Impressionist movement, Pierre-Auguste Renoir. On the medal face is a color lithograph of the painting “Jeune Filles au Piano” and on the reverse is the picture in relief. Renoir, along with many of the Impressionists, painted everyday scenes in vibrant color and light, using short brushstrokes and dissolved outlines. His beautiful, optimistic paintings are much loved the worldover.
The two charming pianists join the “symphony” created by the previous medals in this series: “Klezmer and Angels” by Yosl Bergner, “Le Violoniste Bleu” by Chagall, and “Le Fifre” by Edouard Manet.
