Accountants Association
Official Award Medal, 5742-1981

On the 5th of October 1931 the Association of Accountants in Israel was established by Messrs. Dov Rosentstein, Jacob Haft and Dr. Amnon Rojansky, may they rest in peace. The Association of Accountants united and represented the Accountants practicing under the Law of 1955-5715. When the State was established, the Association consisted of only 46 members. Since then it has grown and now represents 3,500 accountants and has a big influence on the economic administration of Israel. The profession occupies an important advisory position in the fields of balance sheet presentation, bookkeeping, taxation, etc. The importance of accountancy can be seen from the special laws formulated, especially from the specific Accountants' Law. Legislation has been passed to regulate their professional behavior. International recognition of the profession in Israel bears no relation to the size of the country or the number of members of the Association, several of whom participated in the International Congresses. The Association was accepted as an associate in the International Association of Standards (IASC), the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and, recently, also in the European Organization of Accountants (UEC).
