Official Piéfort Mint Set, 1992 5752
44th Anniversary, 500 Years since the Expulsion from Spain
This set was issued in celebration of the 44th Anniversary of the State of Israel. This year also marks the 500th anniversary of the expulsion of Spanish Jewry. The set is packaged in a colorful card-wallet, decorated with scenes from Spanish Jewry's unique heritage based upon paintings from the collection of the Diaspora Museum in Tel Aviv. The set consists of the denominations in circulation, including the 1 agora coin which ceased to be legal tender on 1 April 1991. All of the coins are struck on double-thickness (Piefort) blanks, heavier than those used in the ordinary issue. Each coin in the set bears a tiny Star of David mint mark, the mint year, 5752, and the State emblem
